Liverpool fans trust Jurgen Klopp but pathetic flops must be ended

Liverpool had a lot of disappointing and heart breaking defeats this season but the worst one was definitely the inept show at Leicester City on Monday night. They were defeated by 3-1 but it would have been worse for Jurgen Klopp’s side as they embarrassingly lost to another bottom half team.

This one was worst for Liverpool because they had a break of 16 days before the game which provided them ample of time for perfect preparation in order to build an impressive show against Tottenham. Klopp went to La Manga with his squad for some warm weather training. He had two weeks to train his players and get them ready.

The dreadful performance by the players has convinced Klopp that it is difficult for him to turn his players into winners. He has shown enough patience towards the players but the patience must have run out after this spineless showing by Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp is the only good thing associated with Liverpool right now. If he is not able to bring back the success for his squad then the supporters of the club might lose their trust on the team and back out. Klopp has realised now that what was the reason for the doubts of the supporters when he arrived. The fans believe in Klopp but if he continues to believe in the present squad then the tables might turn soon.

He needs to bring some players in the team with high class talent along with a winning talent. But the players won’t come cheap. The present team has the ability but they are not able to show it often. They are frequently found wanting whenever they are faced with adversity. After the sacking of Claudio Ranieri everyone knew that Leicester side will be more fired up but Liverpool seemed unprepared for a fight against them.

There has been no yellow card against Leicester. While the players must not let their frustration take over the game but the supporters want to see some evidence that it means something and the players are hurting but none of this was visible on Monday night.

Liverpool’s squad is accepting defeat meekly and the frequency of such a game has become too often which proves that Klopp’s side are a soft touch. Klopp has the fight and passion in him but this might hurt him that his team lacks the same enthusiasm. He must address it this summer that his squad does not reflect his personality.

The same team had virtually dominated second-place Spurs two weeks ago. It is easy to believe that the same team had lost at Hull a week before as they showed the carbon copy performance. It won’t be very surprising if they sweep off Arsenal at Anfield next week because that’s what Liverpool do. They lose to the worst team and beat the best and this must have been driving Klopp crazy.

Until some changes are made in the team Liverpool will continue to flatter to deceive. Jurgen Klopp is in need of more players who share the same passion and enthusiasm as him. He needs more players with mental strength and the will to win.

Leicester City right to dismiss Claudio Ranieri

Leicester City had a remarkable Premier League triumph during the 2015-16 campaign but even before kicking a ball this season, there has been an ominous change of mood in the club.

A press conference was held by Leicester Manager Claudio Ranieri at the club’s Belvoir Drive training ground two days before facing the FA Cup winners Manchester United in the community shield at Wembley. The manager complained about the attitude of the players during the pre season and he also talked about the 19 Azure blue sports cars gifted to the players for winning the title three months earlier by the owner of the club Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

Ranieri said that it is more important to think about the matches and not cars. He was irritated at this gesture as it was distracting his players from the challenge ahead. His employers have been pulling back the players backward towards the prolonged celebrations of summer rather than focusing on the upcoming challenges.

Ranieri experienced the changed mindset of his players at Leicester’s Los Angeles training base last summer. His players were happy with the beautiful company of Santa Monica and they were also enjoying the photo shoots with actor Will Ferrell. But they could not do much on the pitch and they were defeated by Paris Saint-Germain with a score of 4-0.

Ranieri was looking for more than the maximum and he was not happy with their performance in Los Angeles. He said that the players lacked the same mentality and even though they were working hard but they were not working as a team which made all the differences.

Ranieri saw the danger signs for his team but he was unable to prevent the team’s fall from grace. His fear of complacency went unheeded. The players stumbled on their achievements and forgot to rediscover their magic.

Ranieri was sacked on Thursday after being told on 7th February that he had the unwavering support of the ownership. He was sacked in less than 24 hours after Jamie Vardy’s first goal of 2017 in a 2-1-first-leg away defeat against Sevilla gave Leicester genuine hope of progression to the Champions League quarterfinals. They may have the chance to get there but now they have to do it without Ranieri.

Leicester City is just one point above the Premier League relegation zone and their priority is to survive in the game. The owner of the club believes that the team has a better chance of surviving in the game with someone else as the in charge of the team. That could be either Roberto Mancini or Alan Pardew or may be even Nigel Pearson.

If no one is appointed as in charge of the team by Monday, assistant manager Craig Shakespeare and first team coach Mike Stowell will take the responsibility when Leicester host Liverpool at the King Power stadium.

The decision of sacking Ranieri might seem brutal but considering what he has achieved last season this seems to be the right decision. Not all fairytales have a happy ending and for Ranieri it ended in a hard way but the time in Los Angeles suggested that he was aware of what was coming his way.

Leicester first away points vs. Chelsea

Leicester city had won the 2015-16 Premier League after a respectable 1-1 draw on the final day of the season. When Claudio Ranieri returned to Stamford Bridge he was welcomed with honour and warm embrace from former boss Roman Abramovich.

After 5 months the scenario has altered and Chelsea defeated Leicester city 4-2 in the EFL cup. They will now start as substantial favourites after taking making points in Saturday’s early kick off.

Leicester city have lost all the three Premier League matches and also gave away 10 goals in the process. However, eight points and a strong home form are still considered as a respectable calculation. Considering the fact that City have faced Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, their performance tally is still not on the weaker side.

Leicester have been vulnerable in the central midfield as per the goals are considered. The reason behind it is the departure of N’Golo Kante to Chelsea. His absence was seen in the central midfield as the team was struggling in the zone.

The French International is a huge responsibility and Nampalys Mendy fit the shoes perfectly but only when he is physically fit. His ankle injury has been a great disappointment that is most likely to cancel his visit to Stamford Bridge. This will allow Daniel Amartey to step up for the following.

Danny Drinkwater will be playing a significant role for the team once he is back from his minor groin injury. The central midfielder from England scored the goal during the 1-1 draw at Chelsea in the last season. This set an example in the centre of the park. Danny doesn’t receive the applause always but when he does, Leicester rarely lose.

Ranieri also needs to decide whether to stick with both the record-signing Islam Slimani and Jamie Vardy or to bring in an extra-midfielder along with a lone striker. Leicester City are not used to playing 4-5-1 but they looked far more efficient during their second half of 4-1 thrashing by Manchester United.

The problem with 4-1-5 is that it leads to soaking up pressure or in Mourinho’s word “parking the bus” but that does not mean aggressive counter-attacking football. There is a risk of Vardy ending up being stranded and it would be easier for Riyad Mahrez with one less focal point ahead of him.

Ranieri might want to change his tactics but there is an argument about maintaining the same formation and believe in it. The players who took 39 points in the last campaign will also remain the same.

It all depends on Ranieri’s thoughts on being defeated by Liverpool and Manchester United. The concern is whether he takes the loss as an irreparable flaw in the system and City’s tactics or just the peak point of two clinical teams.

Arsenal thrashed Leicester 5-2 in the last season but that didn’t reduce the moral of the foxes and there is no urgency for a 4-4-2 yet.

Leicester are not used to winning at Stamford. The only premier league victory was in September 2000 after the goals by Muzzy Izzet and Stan Collymore. Ranieri was appointed as the Chelsea boss the following day.

The question right now is about the number of wins the foxes need in an away game and according to the recent performances the answer is five which is indeed a matter of worry at the moment.
